Dr. Freeman emerged as one of Nebraska’s top pitching prospects while playing at Elkhorn High School under Coach Jerry Frerichs. His accomplishments include:

2007 Nebraska Gatorade Player of the Year
2007 Louisville Slugger Player of the Year
First-team all-state honors from the Lincoln Journal Star and Omaha World-Herald (2007)
Selected to the American Baseball Coaches Association All-Midwest Regional Team
Named honorary captain of the Omaha World-Herald’s All-Nebraska Team (2007)

Postseason Performance:
- 17 innings pitched with 0 runs allowed
- Complete-game, three-hit shutout with 12 strikeouts in a 1-0 semifinal win over top-seeded Grand Island
- Earned the save in the Class A State Championship game
Led Elkhorn to its first-ever Class A State title

Freeman graduated from Elkhorn High School with multiple Division I scholarship offers and committed to the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
